The Houston Dynamo defeated DC United in the most interesting match of the day in MLS. Dynamo managed to come back and stay in the race for the summit of the Western Conference. It’s a massive win for the Wilmer Cabrera guys who had a two game winless skid before tonight’s game.
The first 45 minutes brought nothing notable on the field of BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. The teams were cautious and didn’t want to make some kind of mistake that could put them in a difficult situation. MLS: Houston Dynamo Comes Back From Behind, Stun DC United In Two Minutes, 2-1
Conservative approaches resulted in a single shot and lackluster performance.
But from the start of the second half, the guests struck. DC scored in a minute after referee Vasquez signaled the kick-off. The guest players stole the ball in the midfield, and the action ended with a net from Wayne Rooney. The English striker followed Ulises Segura’s attack and reached his center on Houston’s second goal post. He had no problem putting the ball into the empty net.
It was Rooney’s seventh goal this season.
But the hosts returned. And they did it in style. It was a quick one-two punch that eliminated United in just two minutes.
